Carven x La Redoute

I love a good collaboration and was excited today to realise that this stylish and affordable collection from the well known French retailer and fashion house has dropped online. Those of you that regularly scan the La Redoute website might know that they're no stranger to designer collaborations (Yves Saint Laurent, Yohji Yamamoto and Azzedine Alaia to name a few). Carven has firmly established itself as a go to brand for affordable, on trend luxury over the past decade. Created by Madame Carven in 1945, her designs for petite women quickly caught on, providing a point of difference from the more elaborate couture available at the time. Today creative design duo Adrien Caillaudaud and Alexis Martial are at the helm, who arrived at the company last year following the departure of Creative Director Guillaume Henry (both have previously designed for Givenchy).

The collaboration is inspired by Air France air hostess uniforms (Madame Carven designed them in the 60s and 70s) - expected precision tailoring, flattering pieces in a very January friendly colour palette of navy, khaki and black with splashes of pastels and red. Stand out pieces include the peep toe slingback block heels, the tailored burnt orange skirt and the baby blue skirt suit.

I'm off to London Fashion Week in February so I've ordered the graphic print T-shirt and black sweater to boost my A/W wardrobe (I'm close to getting the shoes).
