London Fashion Week - Events

I'm hugely excited to be heading to London Fashion Week! It's my second time (I covered SS 2015 for Compellier luxury lifestyle magazine). I've picked up a few things since then, and I am going to try not to run myself ragged this time! I'll be watching shows and writing daily posts from the Press room at the stunning Somerset House, going to on schedule and off schedule catwalk shows and presentations and also perusing the amazing Designer Showrooms for the latest styles and accessories.

I'm really looking forward to the International Fashion Showcase, featuring 110 emerging designers from twenty-five countries from Europe, Asia, The Americas and Africa. The winning country, curator and designer will be selected in a ceremony on 22nd February.

I'm also really looking forward to the Fashion Film event, A British Fashion Council initiative which supports designers in creating fashion films. Films will be screened by Sunderland born fashion-as-sculpture designer Gareth Pugh, House of Holland and Jean Pierre Braganza x River Island Design Forum, who in partnership with Google will be the first fashion brand to use Google Cardboard technology. The technology allows the viewer to be fully immersed in a 360 degree interactive film experience! I for one can't wait for his collaboration with River Island, with pieces heavily featuring the kingfisher, which goes on sale on 24th February.

I can't resist Afternoon Tea, especially when it's fashion themed! Covent Garden based restaurant Balthazar has collaborated with British designer Matthew Williamson to create the Matthew Williamson Afternoon Tea (£25), featuring dainty sandwiches, delicious scones with the requisite clotted cream and jam and an assortment of dreamy desserts including Pistachio and Kirsch macaroon and Pecan Praline Millefeuille. There's also a Chasing Rainbows cocktail option (£35) and Cream Tea for fashionistas in a hurry between shows.

Running around London can play havoc with a girl's hair, so I'll be heading to the Pop-Up Braid Bar at Sketch to relax, get a personalised plait, and grab a stylish breakfast in Mayfair. There are twelve styles to choose from, including fishtails, French and halo braids. I'll also be grabbing the Express Breakfast included in the price (£15).

I'll also try and squeeze in a trip to Topshop's flagship store in Oxford Circus on Sunday to catch the Topshop Unique show streamed live. Shopper can review the show on Twitter for the chance to win a Topshop wardrobe. "Tweets for Treats" will be available at a Twitter vending machine where tickets for the next catwalk show will be up for grabs.

With London Fashion Weekend, Britain's biggest bi-annual retail fashion showcase taking place next weekend, it's certainly going to be a busy week! Enjoy the shows!!!!
