Newcastle Foodies

I'm obsessed with food and cooking, so I always look forward to a summer food festival. Coming to Exhibition Park in Newcastle on June 2nd, 3rd and 4th, Newcastle Foodies promises gastronomic fun for all the family. Meet Michelin starred chefs and Masterchef finalists in the Chefs Theatre, satisfy your sweet tooth with Great British Bake Off Winner Candice Brown (Sunday) and pastry experts in the Cakes and Desserts Theatre and pick up some great ideas for summer tipples in the Drinks Theatre. Kids will enjoy learning about the science involved in cooking in the Kids Cookery Theatre with Kiddy Cook. There's also a live music stage showcasing local talent.

It's my kind of day out...
Foodies Festival came about in 2006, when Sue Hitchen came up with idea to start a fun, family-friendly festival that celebrated food, and showcased the talents of top chefs. The first Foodies Festival launched as part of Edinburgh Festival, and was so popular that Sue decided to venture into other cities around the UK. Now there are Foodies Festivals in Brighton, Bristol, Birmingham, Blackheath, Oxford, Tatton Park, Alexandra Palace and Middlesex.

I'm excited about Street Food Avenue and having some afternoon tea in the Vintage Tea Tent. If you're a cocktail fan, you'll love the Pimms Teapot, Appleton Estate Rum Bus and the Bar Bus. You can stock up on local produce (summer barbecue food) at the Artisans Market and enter the Chilli Competition if you're feeling brave enough.

Last year's festival was popular
