I'm a Barbie Girl, in a Charlotte Olympia world...

I haven't blogged about fashion for a while and it was starting to make me feel ill. It's time to get back into it! New York Fashion Week has just started and the next four weeks will be a total fashion frenzy, so let's embrace it.

So to get back into the zone, I was scrolling through Net-a-Porter late at night, as you do, and was stopped in my tracks by a Barbie. Yes, I'm a 36 year old woman, but a collectable fashion Barbie turns me into a ten year old girl. How I desperately wanted the Karl Lagerfeld Barbie, even though it's now on Ebay for like £2,000 (I should have just bought it when it went on pre-order). The Barbie that catapulted me back into a childhood state was a Charlotte Olympia Barbie, and I was a bit scared about how much I wanted it.

The highly coveted Charlotte Olympia Barbie (now on Ebay for over £250)
Accessories brand Charlotte Olympia has teamed up with Mattel to create a covetable collaboration inspired by the original 1959 Barbie and classic Hollywood glamour. The collection is tiny (four pairs of the brand's iconic Kitty flats, two clutches and two pairs of statement platform heels (you can probably guess what colour they come in).  And of course, this beautifully accessorised Barbie, which seems to be sold out everywhere (its RRP of £95 attracting lots of collectors) and appears to be modelled on Ms Olympia herself. She is definitely making a statement in a leopard print two-piece, red heels, handbags and gloves, and a devil-may-care look. The miniature accessories are almost as cute as Barbie herself (including a bag featuring the web logo, a banana bag, a leopard print clutch, kitty pumps and emerald green super high heels, white Audrey Hepburn style sunglasses. And a small leopard. Random).

Charlotte Olympia, her Barbie and human sized accessories
I especially love the coral 'dressing table' clutch (there's no way I could ever walk in those heels after my ankle injury). But it's the Barbie that really speaks to me, her vintage look appeals to me, right down to the red lipstick.

The Charlotte Olympia Barbie collection is on sale now.
