After a fantastic event for bloggers last weekend at the new and hip Bonbar in the centre of Newcastle, the full programme is now available for the 4th annual NE1 Newcastle Fashion Week, so clear out your diaries for 9th-17th May because it's going to be HECTIC!!!
Expect exclusive VIP events, catwalks, great offers and some celebrity guests which are being kept tightly under wraps! You can get involved by picking up the official T-shirt from Fenwick, designed by Dr Martens Newcastle and a bargain at just £10. You can also sip on the fabulous Runway Rosebud cocktail (not to boast but I named it) invented in honour of the event at Bonbar.
Even now things have kicked off with the search to find Newcastle's most stylish - watch out because the search team will be scouting on Northumberland Street on Thursday evenings (5.30pm - 7.30pm) and Saturday lunchtimes (12pm - 2pm) until May 3rd. It's really worth planning out your outfit as the prize is pretty stellar - £500 to spend at Cruise and a Mercedes for the weekend (Mercedes and DDCA Creative Agency are official sponsors)! You can decide who is crowned the most stylish on the NE1 NFW Facebook page.
Proceedings kick off at the official launch party on Friday 9th May at the sumptuous surroundings of Bonbar. Then remember your biggest shades if you've over indulged with their extensive drinks menu because Saturday sees Company magazine present an afternoon of catwalks at the Assembly Rooms. At 12pm and 2pm Company fashion experts will be leading us through an A-Z of the current trends. At just £3 per ticket, you need to move fast to get these!!! One of my highlights is happening later on that night - with a special VIP Vivienne Westwood show from Cruise at 8pm, with the after party at Bonbar. Sunday sees a change of pace and a whirlwind of pink descending onto House of Smith for their obvy amazing Clueless party from 2pm - get dressed up as your favourite character (the best outfit wins a prize) and remember the catchphrases - you'll see the movie and naturally get a makeover afterwards! You can also get sketched by fashion illustrator Kate Bailey.
Get over Blue Monday by checking out Martini Manicure Monday at Fat Buddha. There'll be more catwalk action from Van Mildert, amazing cocktails from the Cocktail Project, and free mini manicures from the award winning Nail & Beauty Lounge and Spoilt for Choice. Another highlight will be the highly anticipated Northumbria University Catwalk Show, fittingly at the Baltic on Tuesday pm. The show attracts industry VIPs and international buyers due to the level of design talent attracted by the university (I'm pestering someone for a ticket as I type this)! There's no rest for the wicked as Wednesday evening sees Tiger Tiger hosting Fashion Front Row, a showcase of North East design talent including the hottest lingerie brand of the moment - Tallulah Love (worn by no other than Kim Kardashian). Entry is free with donations going to Cash for Kids. Get the afternoon off and warn your bank on Thursday for Eldon Square's Fashion Frenzy, where you'll find special offers and events at participating stores at the newly refurbished intu centre. Rest your shopped out feet and grab a seat for the catwalks at 12pm and 6pm, with retailers showcasing spring fashion and emerging talent from Newcastle College.
When I heard about Friday's offering I was very happy as I work at the venue for this one! Engage your fashion brain with an afternoon of talks, panel discussions and seminars hosted by NE1 NFW savvy sponsors, DDCA The Creative Agency at Northumbria Business School alongside fashion gurus from 12pm - 6.15pm. Beauty bloggers will be ecstatic to hear that Lauren Luke (Youtube cosmetics guru famous for her amazing tutorials) is the headline speaker who is sure to give extremely useful tips on boosting the popularity of your blog and the latest make up trends. After you've gained bags full of new knowledge and are buzzing with ideas, go and chill out at another VIP event at the highly luxurious ROX jewellers, where you'll find pampering, the obligatory cocktails and entertainment. Don't get too upset when you wake up on Saturday in the knowledge that there's only one more event in the NE1 NFW diary - the Closing Party at Tup Tup Palace which has attracted the likes of Will.I.Am (was he with Cheryl??) - dress sharp obviously and expect paparazzi.
You might wonder why your life feels empty when the dust and glitter settles, but one thing's for sure - there'll certainly be a lot to blog about!
